in-depth - done carefully and in great detail, or discovering the real reasons which cause something
fingertips - If you have something at your fingertips, you can get it and use it very easily
startling - surprising and sometimes worrying
underlying - real but not immediately obvious
fester - If an argument or bad feeling festers, it continues so that feelings of hate or lack of satisfaction increase
stark - empty, simple or obvious, especially without decoration or anything which is not necessary; severe or extreme
deceptive - making you believe something that is not true
catalytic - that makes you feel complete interest in something
lip service - to say that you agree with something but do nothing to support it
thrust - to push suddenly and strongly
wrapped up - If you are wrapped up in someone or something, you are very interested in them and ignore other people or things
welfare - physical and mental health and happiness, especially of a person
lessened - If something lessens or is lessened, it becomes less strong
self-worth - the value you give to your life and achievements
blossom - When people blossom, they become more attractive, successful or confident, and when good feelings or relationships blossom, they develop and become stronger
guileless - honest, not able to deceive
